April 13th and 27th -Saturdays: SLOW JAMS
(Second and fourth Saturdays) from 1-3 PM. 314 East Second St. attic (up the
long driveway and up the back stairs.) For any interested folk musicians. All
experience levels welcome, including raw beginners. We may go over a piece more
than once.
Bring music or chords if you have them and
share a little of what you are working on. There will not be an audience. We
just go round in a circle picking a favorite tune, and others try to join in.
Perfection not even considered! Come join us.
April 14th: Sunday: Caller's Workshop - If
you've ever had the urge to call a contra dance, this is your opportunity to
learn the technique. We'll be getting together with some experienced callers to
work on some new dances and practice some old ones, and would be delighted to
get you started. No experience necessary. We have cue cards for some simple
dances. We'll hope for enough participants to make a very short contra line. Anybody
that would like to come and help dance is also welcome. Sunday April 14th.
We’re not sure what time as yet, probably in the early evening. We’ll keep you
posted. In the Attic studio, at 314 East 2nd St. (Up the long driveway to the
back, and up the outside stairs to the attic.) This is the 2nd house up from
the Public Library on 2nd St. The city parking lot on the corner of 2nd and
Jefferson is open on weekends. See you there!
April 20th: Saturday: CONTRA DANCE with music
by the River City Ramblers and calling by a host of local callers, at the 1912
Center (Corner of 3rd St and Van Buren in Moscow). 7:30 PM. It’s been far too
too many years since the River City Ramblers have played for us down here in Moscow.
They have a been a mainstay at contra dances on the Palouse for many a year.
That's because they're simply wonderful. This Spokane old-time string band
features fiddler Judy Lungren, Bill Siems on mandolin, Dawn Holladay on guitar
and Michael Gifford holding down the low end on bass. Lively dance music for
contras is guaranteed. And we'll have our wonderful bunch of local callers
trading off doing the calling for this dance. Familiar faces and fun dances. We
always have a great time when we do this, so plan to drag some friends along to
join in the fun! There’ll be some wonderful dancing!
In keeping with the times, masks and vaccines
are optional. At this time few are wearing masks on our dance floor, and we
love to see you if you are healthy, mask or no mask. If you are sick, or have been recently, or have potentially
vulnerable folks at home, we would urge you to avoid coming to the dance. As we
trust you know, it is quite possible Covid can be at any close public event
such as this one.
Beginner? No problem- Arrive at 7:30 and
there are free lessons.
No Partner? No worry. There are lots of dancers - many would like to dance with
you. All dances are taught. Singles, families & beginners are always
welcome. Children are always FREE
Free dance lessons at 7:30, 8-10:30 Dance. Admission: $6 for members, $8 for
non-members and new dancers get in for $5
